Rurchased A7iii from Very.co.uk, sony's cashback offer branded all over the entire website, I have sent Sony 2 copies of statements BOTH of which have the camera on there with payments on, my address, date of purchase, price etc etc, I've sent serial numbers, and have even spoken to Very on the phone who were baffled as to what else Sony want as that is all they issue. They sent me a VAT invoice as they do not do invoices, they do statements as you have accounts with them, and yet today that was also not good enough!
So they have had 3 types of proof of all the details and the fact I have paid and now own it, yet they dispute this.
Shocking performance from Sony and if this is what their customer service is like I already really regret buying from them.
I've been scouring message boards forever today and this is the closest I can find with Very.co.uk purchases, can anything actually be done to get Sony to pay attention?! Or is this cashback thing just a lazy scam as they're clearly doing everything in their power to avoid paying.
Hi jemjam,
Did you contact the Cashback team?
They should be able to telly you why your Cashback claim has been rejected.
You should find the contact details in the e-mail they have sent you when you registered fro cashback.
Cheers
Peter
Hi thanks for your reply, each time I have disputed it I have had the following replies:
1st time "While validating your current proof of purchase, we concluded that we cannot accept it as a valid invoice as the document is not clear or is missing some key information."
2nd time "we concluded that we cannot accept it as a valid invoice as the document is actually an order confirmation. You receive an order confirmation when you have just ordered your product online. However, this is actually not proving that you paid and received your product. Please contact your retailer to get the real invoice or check your online account." - they were provided with an account statement showing payments made and the item received - the only document that the retailer provide, and also the identical document detailing all the relevant information I had sent the first time around, but I highlighted it and displayed the payment made and the camera clearly on my account.
3rd time (including sending a VAT document from the retailer provided me when I had to contact them) - "While validating your current proof of purchase, we concluded that we cannot accept it as a valid invoice as the document is not a VAT invoice."
This is ridiculous because it is the only VAT document that the retailer provide.
I am at a loss as to what Sony expect consumers to provide when we go above and beyond to provide documentation which is not standard issue to customers from retailers like this.
Does anyone have any ideas of what I can do seeing as I'm getting nowhere with anything??
Hi @jemjam,
I've passed this to my Sony contact for extra validation, you should hear back soon.

I've not had a reply from them since 9th August and I've emailed them twice since, so I hope your help works thank you!
Apologies for jumping on your post but I'm new and didn't want to create a duplicate thread.
I successfully registered for the cashback promotion several days before the deadline expired and even received an email confirming my eligibility. It said payment would be processed within 28 days.
Although it's not been 28 days yet, payments from previous promotions have been made a lot quicker. I totally understand if the delay is the result of the pandemic, but when I click the link in the email to check the status of my claim I also get the 'Oops, something went wrong' error page.
So now I'm a bit worried 😞
Lance.
Hi Lance,
If you've received an email with a claim ID and confirmation, you're good in terms of your participation. You'll hear back from Sony if there's a problem with your claim at all, but giving the 28 days is the least you can do.
