Sony RDR-GX350 copied DVD-R disc not recognised anywhere else

Hello,

I bought a Sony RDR-GX350 22W HDMI 1080p DVD Recorder specifically to copy a Sky+ HD recording where I was on a TV quiz show onto a disc with the end goal of getting an MP4 copy to keep and share with my friend who I went on the show with.

I used Verbatim DVD-R discs and successfully copied the recording onto the discs which play back fine through the Sony DVD Recorder.

I purchased a Kadlun External Disk Reader with the aim of copying the digital version of the file onto my laptop. Unfortunately, I can't get the disc to be recognised there or in an Xbox One X. I am in communication with Kadlun to try and troubleshoot it with their measures, no luck so far. A purchased film DVD is recognised in it so the external drive isn't the issue.

I wondered if anyone more technically informed than me knows if for some reason the disc is only formatted to work in the Sony RDR-GX350 and will never be able to be read anywhere else or if there is a solution where I can get it to be read and copy the root file and get an MP4 or similar copy?

Appreciate any help on the matter

Hi again,

Bought a universal remote and formatted 2 out of the 3 discs, success on those! Thank you again for your help.

The third disc I recorded, to my surprise, won't load or play anything and after Loading for a while the error message, 'Cannot format' with an empty timestamp line shows, so it won't play back the recording that I saved from the Sky+HD box (different house). Doesn't play anything on an Xbox One, either.

I'm pretty sure at the time I checked the recording after recording and it had worked on DVD-Recorder played back. I can't see anything in the manual for the error and can't finalise the disc or see any content on it.

Do you think my best course of action is to re-record from the Sky+HD box onto the DVD-R, then this time I can finalise it there and then? Thanks in advance for any advice
