No ringtone on incoming calls

Since the Lollipop update, I have, on 4 occasions this week, come across the same problem.

When there is an incoming call, the phone does not ring, I only see the screen and notification light turn on.

Phone volume (using side keys) is set to the maximum level for ringer. I go to Settings->Sounds to select my ringtone, and try calling my phone again but each time it remains silent.

When my calendar has notifications, I hear the notificaiton noise for events.

The only way to remedy this each time was a reboot of the phone - after this the ringer would work again, at least until the next time it goes silent.

Any idea what could be causing my phone to remain silent for incoming calls ?

@Gali2

I'm sorry to hear that Slightly_frowning_Face

I recommend that you first try your phone in safe mode for a day or two to see if this might be caused by an app your downloaded. We have seen some 3:rd party apps before that can mute the phones ringtone.

Safe mode is a mode where all downloaded apps are disabled. See this link for information on how to set your phone to safe mode: /t5/FAQ/How-to-boot-your-phone-into-safe-mode/m-p/348008

This is a good way to see if it's caused by the phone or one of your apps.

It might be that you have an app that is not fully compatible with Lollipop. It's something we've seen before so it would be good to check if that's the case for you as well.
