I got this notification telling me to update my phone but it's an update I had previously done. It's 15.1.C.2.8 which I updated to about a month ago however it is still telling me to update.

Try settings-apps-all-update centre,force stop and clear data.

I already tried that. Does low memory effect wether or not you can update?

No,the updates have dedicated space.At least it should not.Try to clear some space(up to 500MB).

Then it could be because my phones storage space is running out. Does the Xperia m have dedicated space?

All phones have space for the OS.
