So, I had my Xperia S plugged into my laptop (just as I have many times) and I was doing the update that PC Companion said was available. (dunno what version number is as I can't plug my phone in etc to get the update info again)
Any way, it was going along doing its own thing.... until... *buzz* phone vibrates, laptop registers the disconnection sound... look at my phone and its powered off.... random but what ever... could be the update, could be something else, leave it a minute, but nothing changes.... so I tried turning it on... left it to power up and stuff and I came to it to check my messages etc. and its not turned on, so I power it on again..
I pressed the power button till the phone vibrated and the screen lights up, watched the power up process and then suddenly, theres an image of a phone and a triangle with a exclamation mark in it and the phone won't turn on..... it gets to the triangle exclamation thing then turns off again.... what the hell is going on here???
please help meeee, I don't wanna have to factory reset, I forgot to do my monthly back up this week, so I'd have to go a month backwards....

Solved! Go to Solution.
If it's not turning on then try holding power and volume up untill you feel 3 vibrations 1 after the other not 1 on it's own - Then try turning it back on if you still have no luck then you will have to run a repair using SUS found here emma.extranet.sonyericsson.com/update_service_setup download and install and follow the on screen instructions - This should repair your phone as this works in flashmode and not normal mode like PCC does to begin prior to rebooting in flashmode

Thanks for that, the soft reset thing didn't work, but I ran the update with SUS and its sorted it all out
