Is this possible?

This is a question for Xperia/Android experts.

Is it possible to completely wipe the phone of everything and then install/flash the OS again?

(Not just wipe user data by factory reset)

- I mean format/wipe the entire system using CWM Recovery. Formatting the system partition but not the boot partition. (So your phone is just an empty shell or "brick")

I'm guessing PC companion wouldn’t work, but theoretically, is it possible to flash ICS again [See link] using Flashtool?

Actually, seeing as that is a .ftf file. CWM wouldn't be able to install it, so it must be flashed usiing Flashtool. But if you format the system, how can flashtool recognize your device???

So in that case, the only option would be a custom rom ready to go and install on the sdcard as a .zip. Correct?

Apparently Flashtool will still work.
