Media Library broken sometimes

Hello,

I love my Xperia Mini Pro but there are some issues in the phone that really annoy me. The one regarding this post subject is the worst…

Sometimes when I reboot the phone the Media Library is empty and the phone needs to rebuild it. The major problem connected to this is that some configured ringtones or notifications with the songs in the Media Library are lost or wrongly re-configured.

I’ve changed my SD Card, I’ve re-installed ICS (4.1.B.0.431) with SU, and I’ve forced 'Clear Data' in the Media Storage application but nothing. The problem still remains. This happens even with a Media Library with less than 10 songs.

Has someone came across this issue and was able to solve it?

Thank you very much in advance!

I suggest that you await the .587 update which is being rolled out for 2011 Xperia's as we speak. You will get a notification in the phone when it's available for your device.

have you tried using other SD card? or tried your sd card to another phone?

how about when you connect your phone to a pc via mtp or msc? any problems?

try to search for an app like this

Thanks for trying to help nolramlb.

Yes, I've tried two different SD cards and no, I don't have any problems connecting to a PC.

I really don't see how an application used to force SD card re-scans will help me...

The problem is that the Media Library database gets completly broken just by shutting down the phone, but not always. And then the phone rescans the entire card and builds a new Media Library database when it's powered up. Meanwhile all the ringtones configured to use Media Library files get also broken.

Why is the Media Library database being rebuilt from scratch when I power up the phone (this happens around half the times)...?

do you have apps like antivirus , battery savers , ram boosters or simillar apps? try re installing them, or try to observe other apps that may cause these problems. do you use file managers?

Hum... Yes I have a file manager (ES File Manager).

I've uninstalled it now. Lets see how it goes.

Thanks for the hint!

I've uninstalled several applications and now I have the same that I had in my Xperia X10 Mini Pro, but problem isn't solved.

With an average of maybe 1 out 5 times when I restart my Xperia Mini Pro the Media Library is empty and therefore needs to be completly rebuilt...

I don't have any anti-virus, battery savers, ram boosters or any thing of the sort. Even the file manager that I had I've uninstalled it.

Besides the applications that came with the phone I only have:

- Compass;

- Financisto;

- Flashlight;

- GO SMS Pro;

- K-9 Mail;

- My Vodafone;

- Profiles.

Thank you very much for your help nolramlb but I think I give up...

Just one more information; the same problem also happens to the Xperia Mini Pro of a friend of mine.

This doesn't happen to anybody else?!

I can now confirm that the .587 solved this issue!

I've updated my phone with the .587 build and since then I've done more than 10 reboots and I even messed around a little bit with the Media Library (deleted manually some folders with ES File Explorer and changed some cover arts with Cover Art Downloader). The Media Library remained intact!

My thanks to nolramlb and Johan!
