No Automatic Brightness?

I just got my Xperia Arc in Canada a few hours ago.  Previously, I was using a Nexus S from Google (Android 2.3.3).  This is a new account activation so I could switch phone for a limited time.

There is simply no Automatic Brightness with Xperia Arc (Android 2.3.2).

I know what Automatic Brightness is and it is simply not there.

Please!!! Fix this issue.  And Android 2.3.4 is coming soon?  When can we expect an upgrade?

If you manually set brightness level to 50%, it is not automatic brightness.

Automatic brightness doesn't let you manually set any brightness level to begin with.
