pattern lock

Please help I am a mother who is tearing her hair out my son has pattern locked his phone I have downloaded the updates which do not work I have e-mailed customer services they have given me the links to download but nothing is updating I am following the instructions to repair the phone( I have sat for 10 mins holding the back button ) the computer finds new hardware then switches the phone on I have been told by sony cs it isn't supposed to do this. what now ? I have looked at old sugestions on you forum but so far nothing is working  HELP

From what I have heard you can get around this happening by booting the computer into safe mode then running the Update. We have tried it here and it does work.

don't worry

first download Update Service

2nd turn off the phone

3rd run Update service and wait until it ask you to connect your phone

4th Press the back button FIRST

5th while holding the back button w/o releasing it connect the USB cable

6th wait for the Update Service to tell you that you have to release the back button

Thanks for this but still no luck I have tried over and over again with this update  I sat last thurs for 10 mins holding the back button I think the phone may have to go back to sony as nothing is working.

Turn off your phone and don't turn it on again until its finished the process

Run SE  Update Service on your PC and go through until it tells you to connect your phone

Hold the back button and insert the USB cable whilst holding the button your should get a green LED on the phone and SEUS will then update

It is important that the phone is off and you hold the back button while you insert the USB into the phone don't release the button or the phone will just start up.

You will get a message on the computer telling you when to release the button

try a different USB port

I'm wondering if its the cable, does it charge when you connect it to the computer? or wall charger? if it does it might be the port on your computer, like I said, try a different port

Thank but no good the green light comes on but the phone switches it self on while I am still holding the back button I am admitting defeat and will try again tomorrow

thanks I have tried diff ports but I get the same result the computer reconises new hardware and yes the phone charges so it is not the cable I am giving up for now and will try again tomorrow

it might be the cable that it's a bit lose or that you release the back button while connecting the USB cable

Hi Lynn9013, something to add, to access Safe mode, reboot PC/Laptop, keep tapping F8 till a Safe mode Menu appears, select Safe mode with Network and then run SE Update Service. Read the on-screen instructions carefully, don't rush, just do it calmly. Winking_Face
