upgrade from 2.1

i cant upgrade from 2.1 to anything just goes through stage one on pc companion and then seems to sit at the end of the green bar on stage two(prepare) forever not doing anything

can someone give me an idea?

I don't have an answer for you, but maybe it might just work on another PC or Laptop? There are cases that some users are successful when switched to another computer.
