James - Just wonder what Sony's reaction would have been if the bios update went pear shaped?

Still, I am much the same as you, constantly adding updates and firmware patches. I would have thought that Sony would be responsible for a disaster - and since mine is well and truely under the one year guarantee (expires 18/05/2005), then they would probably replace it as a dead BIOS is pretty terminal on any PC!
