Hi everyone!
I live in Australia (not on the country list btw) and have just purchased a vaio E series laptop.
I have two problems - big ones.
After I bought the laptop I took it down to the local techo who told me he could ghost my old laptop files onto the new one, the vaio. So he did. Now I have picked it up and all the vasio stuff is gone. I have inherited all the files and also the problems of the old ASUS. I have no assist, web or vaio buttons at the top of the keyboard. No vaio care etc. I have tried to download vaio care but it says the file is missing and wont installed.
I have no disc, no recovery and the recognise my machine on this site does not recognise.
I tried the F10 at statup and it doesnt work.
My model number at the underside of the laptop gives two different numbers and both are different from the number on the box.
I am so worried. I just want the machine to be like how it was when I bought it.
Can anyone help me?
My laptop says these model numbers:
SVE151A11W and SVE15118FGB
The box says SVE15118FGB
Please help me.
Kathy:smileycry:

Hi Kathy and welcome to the Sony Europe forums.
Your Vaio SVE1511FG is a Sony Australia model and you can find Support in Australia here: -
http://www.sony.com.au/support/product/sve15118fg
I presume you have tried pressing the 'Assist' button when the Vaio is turned OFF?
It sounds like your 'local techo' has completely wiped the hard drive and copied everything, including the operating system, from your old laptop. The only way to put this right is to buy a Recovery Disc Set from Sony Support by contacting them on the above website. Alternatively, contact your local Sony seller for advice on how to contact Support. Where did you buy the Vaio from?

Sony will charge for the Recovery Discs - perhaps your 'local techo' will pay for them as he has caused the problem by his incompetence!
If we can help further, just ask - but as this is the Sony Europe website, we don't know your model in detail.
Good Luck!
