slow start lost items!

Hi folks, wonder if anyone can help me!! have vgnfs515e and weird things been happening recently! Firstly I lost the connection with my Finepix camera usually just plug it in with usb cable and it would automatically open with Picasso so I could download the pics. Well, thats dissapeared! cannot find the camera anymore! Also, another thing cannot restore laptop to an earlier date anymore seems to have vanished aswell!! also very slow start up, and I wouldnt know what should start up and what shouldnt on here! not a advanced user I am afraid. So any help would be appreciated! I was thinking of downloading Driver Detective and seeing what that comes up with but again not sure of these things! what do people think? Thanks :slight_frown:

I would be wary of these sites like Driver Detective. At best they are designed to sell you something you don't need and at worst some are actually designed to capture your credit card details for illegal use when you buy some driver you do not need.

That said I have no reason to believe this particular site is anything but genuine but I am equally sure that you do not have a driver problem - but I'm certain you will be told you have and you must buy this that or the other to cure it.

You would be better advised to invest in a good computer care product like System Mechanic that will find things that may affect performance and suggest remedies.

On the System Restore problem, are you using Norton Security? There is a known problem with Norton and System Restore which requires turning off one of Norton's services.

Thanks Blencogo I am not using Norton, I use AVG Free version. I am glad I did not purchase the Detective now, after your advise, I will look for what you suggested, is that free to download or do I have to buy the product. Many Thanks.

Have a go with the free trial first.

Download it here: -

Uncheck the box and don't put your email address in ( to avoid them writing to you). You can see how good you find it and decide at the end of the trial if you like it.

It may also be worth checking your system for malware with Dr Web
