VAIO Update

I have been able to upgrade to the new version of "VAIO Update" and one of the upgrades was installed, but 2 upgrades are still coming out even if you try to upgrade: -

1.   BlueUpg Graphics Driver (NVIDIA)  -  I get successfully installed but when you check for upgrades it comes back again.

2.   Store App Support Utitily  -   Please wait a while, then try again.

I have tried a few times but still get the same message.

I suppose something will be sorted out by Sony VAIO in due course.

Hi JLuigi,

I assume that you eventually managed to restart your system as you mention trying to download updates. Was a full system restore required?

I have no idea what is going on with your notebook but I have a feeling that it has more than Vaio updates as a cause especially as the last message you received seemed to suggest that there was a Windows system error.

Have you run a FULL scan for malware with more than one utility? I can recommend Dr Web Cureit Free – a Google will locate the download. If that proves negative then I suggest you run the System File Checker:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833

If you let us known the correct Model Name I will check whether the Vaio Care Recovery download works on my macine.

Hi Rich

Thanks for your e-mail.

Yes my system started but I have not been able to download updates.    I did not perform a full system restore yet.

My computer is a Sony VAIO Model Name: SVL2412M1EB.

I followed your suggestion and run the System File Checker and found corrupt files but it was unable to fix some of them.     I checked the CBS log which is quite long with complex information and I am afraid this repair is too advance for my computer knowledge.    I have copied the last part of the report but if I keep on having problems I will need to take it to the local Sony dealer from where I purchased it.

A couple of months ago I did a six DVD backup of the system and also a USB copy.    Can I do a full restore from this?

Many thanks for all your help.

Regards

JLuigi

Hi JLuigi,

I can confirm that the Vaio Care Recovery downloads without problem in approx. 30 seconds. If you are still experiencing difficulties then I fear that it is your system and not the Sony server.

http://www.sony.co.uk/support/en/content/cnt-dwnl/prd-comp/EP0000321308_9605/SVL2412M1E

If the 6 DVD backup you made was using Vaio Care then yes you can use these to restore your system or you can press the Assist button when fully shut down to access the recovery utility. Bear in mind that either of these routes will return the machine to factory settings and you will lose all personal data. Make sure you first backup any personal data you need.

The CNBJ2530.DPB and prncacla.inf Corruptions you mention seem to be fairly common and you may wish to investigate the following link before going down the route of a full recovery.:

Hi Rich

Thank you for your e-mail and all the information.

I have followed your instructions and the Vaio Care Recovery downloaded and installed from the link you provided me with.

I then follow the other link regarding the pmcacla.inf Corruptions and it also worked and I got the message from System file checker  "Window Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations".     So it seems everything is back to normal!!!

The only issue left is I still cannot install "Store App Support Utility".   Do you have a link I can download it from?

Also "Graphics Driver (NVIDIA)"   I install it and the next time I open Vaio updates it comes back again for install.      Is there any reason for this?

Once again many thanks for all your help.

Regards

JLuigi

Hi JLuigi,

Good to hear that you are making progress. Here is a link to a manual download for the Store App Support Utility:

http://www.sony.co.uk/support/en/content/cnt-dwnl/prd-comp/EP0000320666_9569/SVL2412M1E

I have seen others report that the Nvidia driver install notification seems to be stuck in a loop. I would just ignore it for the time being and hope that Sony sort it out. I will however let support know that this is happening.
