Hi.. I can't find the way to restore factory setting for sony vaio laptop model VPCS11V9E running Windows 7. I booted the laptop and by tapping F10 started up Recover center. But all I can see is recovery data option there is no restore factory setting option. Am I doing something wrong?
Even when start Sony Vaio care from Windows 7 sometimes I do not see Recovery option. When I see this option nothing appears underneath it like create reovery media, bios setting standard options.
Please can anyone help here !!!
Thanks a ton!
Did you make Recovery Discs when you first bought the Vaio? Always a sensible precaution in case your Recovery Partition has been corrupted.
I think you just have to SKIP the data recovery screens. Try this: -
1. Click Start, All Programs, and VAIO Recovery Center.
2. Select Restore Complete System and click Start.
3. Read the information about software or features to solve the problems, select Skip
if you have already tried all of them, and click Next.
4. Select Skip and click Next.
If the User Account Control window appears, click Yes.
5. Follow the on-screen instructions.
You can download a copy of your Recovery Guide here: -
ftp://ftp.vaio-link.com/pub/manuals/RecoTS/2010Q1_TRG_EN.pdf
If you have not yet created the recovery discs, see “Creating recovery discs” on
page 6.
Come back if this does not solve the problem.
Thanks for replying. I have never made Recovery Discs for my laptop since i bought it. Also i don't have VAIO Recovery Center installed on my laptop. I only have Vaio Care which does NOT allow me to restore factory setting. It does not even give me option to create recover disk, restore factory setting etc. I can send images what i see in vaio care under recovery option. According to the technical document i should see restore factory settings but i don't see it on my laptop. Any help / advise will greatly appreciated!
That is strange. Not sure what to suggest - have you installed the Vaio Care Update 6.4.2.11150 under the Windows 7 Latest Downloads section here: -

Check if the Recovery Partition is still there:
Start -> Right-click (My) Computer -> Manage -> Disc Management
Is an EISA Recovery Partition shown without a drive letter?
It does sound like this partition may have been deleted or is corrupt.
I'll have a look on another Vaio which has Vaio Care installed and see what that shows under Recovery and post again later.
Thanks I will check recovery partition. Im sure it is there.
Hi. When you purchased your notebook. Did it come with CDs? Try to check it if you still have it because for sure, those are recovery discs and you can use it for this.
Good luck.

Do you actually have a Vaio computer flogger12345?
I ask because you obviously know nothing about Vaios at all.

Yes I do see recovery partition without a driver letter.
any other advice?
I can only think that some software has become corrupt. When I open Vaio Care, I get the following options: -
Does Vaio Recovery appear in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Sony folder?
I think you are going to have to contact Vaio Support to see if they have any suggestions. As a last resort, you may need to purchase a replacement Recovery Disc Set.
Sorry I cany be more helpful.
