Watch TV without entering the OS?

Hello guys.

I have just acquired a VGC-LV2SJ, it works perfectly, but I was wondering if it is possible to watch TV as if it was a normal TV. Currently I need to turn the PC on, enter Win. Vista and through MediaCenter I finally get to watch TV... is it possible to skip all that?

thanks in advance!

Don't think you can bypass the OS. Easiest way to do what you want is to make MediaCentre start automatically but most importantly rather than turning off the computer when you're finished, just put it to sleep (I prefer hybrid sleep rather than straight sleep or hibernate). That way, when you fire it up it will very quickly go to the MediaCentre menu and you're only one click away from live TV. This is how I use my Vaio media centre - it works much like a digital PVR box.

I don't know the details of this model, but there are various settings in the control panel under Hardware and Power that will let you set up how the machine turns on and off by default (plus loads of info on the web), I guess the Sony documentation will also go through how to sleep/hibernate your machine.
