Has this product been discontinued? Does anyone know if it will be receiveing Android 4.0? Some applications now require 4.0+ to work and for a product that was launched in 2012 to not be able to run these application (Chrome, Horn e.t.c. ) is a major dissapointment...
Hi Tokuchi and welcome.
Any updates will appear on the Support Pages for your model here: -
http://www.sony.co.uk/support/en/product/NWZ-Z1060
However, it looks like only the new NWZ-F805 appears to have the update.
Here is some news:
http://av.watch.impress.co.jp/docs/news/20120920_560316.html
And the translation:
Sony is carried out before the end of the year 2012 the Android 4.0 update for Walkman "NW-Z1000 Series" with Android OS launched in December 2011.
Compatible models, three models 16GB model "NW-Z1050", 32GB "NW-Z1060", the 64GB "NW-Z1070". The update, as well as OS is Android 4.0, corresponding to the FLAC lossless audio codec.
I have the same problem with the update. I downloaded the update file, ran it and it just says connect device. The 1060 is already connected as per Sony online update instructions. In a word, CRAP...
Sony if you do not do something about this and help all those with the problem you should be ashamed. One thing for sure if I dont resolve this problem I will NEVER buy another sony product in my life...
