Well one of the problems is that the Remote Control app works on infa red which the PS3 does not and only supports a Bluetooth device. There may be apps on the Marketplace. One that seems to show up is something called pocketBLU.
Since I have no PS3, I am at a loss at how well it works. Its free, give it a try.
