Phone keeps restarting

Hi

This message is on behalf of my teenager daughter who has an XA2 which is 4 months old but it keeps restarting when she is using it.  Is anybody else having this issue?  Can you recommend something or can I have this phone replaced under sony warranty as less than 12 months old?

I have the same issue here. The phone kept restarting for 20 minutes when I broight it home! After investigating a little, somehow it is related to my router.

- If I get out of the house and turn the Wifi off, the phone starts just fine.

- If I let the Wifi on (on my phone) but turn off my router, the phone starts just fine.

- It can connect elsewhere on a Wifi network but not at home.

I'll keep investigating this but maybe you could check if turning off your router allows the phone to start properly...

What is the make and model number of your router ?

It's a Linksys WRT54G2. There seems to be an incompatibility between the two.

I bought a new one on Prime day (!) and the issue is resolved (TP-Link Archer C7)

Unfortunately, not everyone can afford a new router after getting a new phone Slightly_frowning_Face

A similar problem was happening to my phone. Essentially, it would keep on restarting over and over again. I followed the sony website and factory reset my phone, but it still happened. However, I found a solution:

-I deduced that the problem had something to do with connecting with wifi, since it finally stopped restarting when I told it not to look for available networks.

-I then resorted to looking through all of my network settings without turning on the network.

-I found that it remembered networks from my old phone, so all I did was click on each network and click "forget."

-After doing this, I was able to connect to my network without any problems. I then restarted my phone to ensure that it was fine.

-From this, I think the problem is that the phone is either that it was trying to use past network settings (from my old phone) that just aren't compatible with this phone or that there were multiple networks in the area that it remembered, so it just crashed trying to connect to both.

I hope this was helpful!

I would suggest that the handset is at fault, a phone should not keep restarting even if there's a WiFi issue.

The problem is with WiFi. Turn off the router and restart your phone then go to WiFi and delete all WiFi connections and then just enter the one from your house. The problem is that when you activate the phone all WiFi networks are passed from the previous phone automatically and that causes the phone to restart again and again after erasing all WiFi turns on the phone and the router and adds the WiFi and solve the problem I hope it helps. It served me very well

Hi

The same thing happened to my 4 month old XA2 today.  First it shut down the restarted and said Android is starting, 2 seconds later shut down again, then restarted.  When I got to home screen I couldn't access anything, no settings nothing.  I'm taking it to my provider tomorrow and will either get a replacement or leave the phone with them and cancel my direct debit ergo my contract.  I won't accept a repair as this depreciates the phone immediately and a 4 month old phone should work perfectly.  Consumer law states that if an item is unfit for it's purpose then you can either get a refund or replacement.  As I've practised in Consumer Law for most of my career I know my rights
