Android version

Since I bought my Sony Xperia J (ST26i) that never received an update for my Android system.
I have version 4.1.2 and there are already more advanced versions.
Why Sony has not released an updated version?

When you bought your phone it had the latest available software already installed and the Xperia J will not receive anymore firmware updates
