So i just got my z2 back from "repair". And they have done nothing about my issues with the phone. On the paper i got from the "engineer" it says they have done a software update (which i could of done myself) and screening (dont know what that means).
Basicly i have light leaking from the gaps on the front left and right of the phone where the glass meets the frame. Its really distracting when using the phone in a dark room and surley its not waterproof if i can see light coming through. Another issue is battery life, its been pretty average and sometimes will go down 2 percent at a time for no apparent reason. For example i could be on 80% and it will go down to 78% without ever displaying 79%. These are the main issues, the notification light is also a bit faded on the right hand side but thats a minor issue that i can live with if i have to. Really dissappointed in sonys service, i left a detailed explanation of my problems in the box when i sent it off for repairs, i even drew a diagram to point out the leaking light. but they seem to have ignored this.
Anyone else here see light leaking through the gaps on the front of the phone?
No light leakage on my Z2. If you bought it from a UK retailer or network then ask them to sort it out. In the EU the seller has to give you a 2 year warranty and can't fob you off to the manufacturer with ongoing problems. They sold it - they are liable.
There's a vacuum test Sony service centres can do (apparently) to check it meets the IP rating (waterproofing). In the UK I think this means sending it off for a while....not sure where you are.
My battery meter shows odd and even numbers - it can drop in chunks sometimes - never really noticed a pattern to it. The main thing is that it remains usable for a working day - take mine off charge at 7am and it usually plenty of juice left late evening unless I've been OTT with the camera etc.
The retailer will just send it to sony so i might as well deal with it myself. I can only see the light leaking in a dark room, have you taken yours in a dark room to check if yours has light leaking?
If it comes to it i will just put it in water and see what happens. (making sure i record the whole event on video so they cant say the flaps were open). But even if it is waterproof i dont think its acceptable that i can see light coming through those gaps. Its clearly a manufacturing issue and should be replaced.
