So my lovely Z5 suddenly decided today not to charge.
If i plugged it into pc it would make a ping noise but not charge. If I plugged it into socket it would not charge.
It has now run out of charge and if ipress the power button shows the red empty battory thing on the screen but it wont charge.
i read some places about holding down power and volume up and the same time .. if i do this after about 5s it makes 3 vibration noises in quick successsion but does nothing else!
any help or ideas much appreciated!!
thanks tom
Hi @CameronT
Yes but nothing changes
i did the power and bolume up button thing .. a red light flashed in top left corner for couple secs then it bibrated three times then a blue light appeared in top left corner and i left it light this overnight on the charger but it hasnt done anything. still seems dead but there is always some response to plugging the charger in so obviously not completely dead .. it seems like the battery is dead and wont hold charge but it recognises the charger.
with hindsight and i might be wrong on this,i upgrated from the z2 when the z5 came out and i was really surprised and disappointed at how poor the battery was. it would only last half a day compared to a fully day on the z2 so im wondering if the battery has just been a faulty one on this from the beginning and now that has fully shown itself. I just wish it could run from the power cord so I could get my data off!!
Thanks to everyone who has tried to help so far.
To my great surprise I just checked the phone and it had charged to 17% battery .. so this time the Power On + Volume Up has seemed to work a bit. However when I turned it on, it still would not charge when turned on and my 17% disappered quite quickly. Hoping this method will work again so at least can get my data off. most bizarre though.;
Hopefully you can keep the phone on long enough to back it up. I think the best option here would be to run a software repair. Failing that though you'll probably have to contact your local support team using the link in my signature to arrange a repair.
I ended up realising that my phone will still charge on higher wattage chargers .. ie like the one it came with, but it will no longer charge on standard 1A chargers, which it was fine with before .. this baffles me somewhat as I cannot understand what would go wrong to cause this, but at least all is not lost.
thanks tom
I have the exact same issue. My phone just one decided to not charge. Doesn't connect to pc as well. It bleeps when plugging between pc and phone and then nothing. Also doesn't charge off any charger except a higher wattage adaptor. Tried different cables, the original cable and charger, the z2 cable and Samsung cables. Before it could basically charge off any.
I have factory reset the phone, (such a pain) but to no avail. Would love to software format, but can't connect to pc companion.
It is the waste product by SONY.. I too had the same issues after 1.2yrs and tried with so many methods. Atlast i gave it to service center and they said board worth of 13000 has to be replaced & the same will not covered under warranty.
Infact i tried the customer care for a solution, they said like they will arrange for a call in 24hrs but didnt metioned how many 24hrs. I am still waiting for the past 4months.
Many of my friends had the same kind of issues.. It is the universal problem with Z series.
In simple words i can say is SONY Z series will work only for 1.2yrs i.e will work good in the warranty period.
Better dont buy SONY products.
I hope you have some solid statistical data to back up your statement that Sony Z series phones will only work for 1.2 years.
I guess not because strangely, my Xperia Z3 dual is now working for 2 years and 5 months, and my Z5 is now working for 1 year and 8 months. Both of them without a single visit to a support center.
u might be lucky my dear friend
I am not against SONY but just think in my angle, i bought it for 45k and in 1 year and 2mnths i got this problem and for the past 4 months i could not able to use it.
Many of my friends too had the same kind of issues.
I tried with so many options, SONY is not taking responsibility and has never come up with a good solution till date .
I understand your frustration, and I'd be quite angry if I were in your shoes. But giving such statements like if they are some proven facts is not the right thing to do about it.
Call your Local support again, maybe raise a complaint.
