Hi there
Bought an Xperia Z about a month ago. Had slight lag issues but nothing too serious.
My phone ran down and the battery died two days ago. I put it on the charge (its been on the charge pretty much ever since) with the red LED lit up. LED turns off completely when unplugged.
Phone will not turn on at all; have tried all of the manual resets (holding power button and volume button etc); have read these forums and searched the web for a solution to no avail. PC doesn't recognise the phone so can't reset it via PC Companion. Basically, I have an $800 unresponsive brick.
Very very disappointed to say the least. Phone was very well looked after, and to have it die simply because the battery ran down is extremely worrying. I've seen that this issue is very common yet there doesn't seem to be any definitive fix for it whatsoever.
Any help that anyone can give me would be really appreciated
Hi @DaveliD @cavita
Connect your device to a wall charger and then press and hold power & volume up for more than 10 seconds. Let it charge for 2 to 3 hours, even if it doesn't seem to be charging. Also you can try by plugging the usb cable as you hold volume down.
Also you can try this:
- Open the micro SD card slot
- There's an "off" button hidden behind a hole
- Push the button and hold it for a while for example with a paperclip. Do this again.
The power button should started the phone after this.
If it nothing seems to solve the problem, you have to consider visiting a sony service:

If my answer was helpful for you, please thank me with Kudos.
I'm at disposal for any question.

when i connect the phone to the wall charger the red led comes on, the goes green then finally goes off.
How do i know its charging...oohhh crap i just got this phone
The phone is not charging at all
When i connect to the wall it keeps restarting
This is what shows up then it restarts>>>How do i charge the phone.
Try performing a system repair using PC Companion as this will often fix issues - This will factory reset your phone and erase all data
Switch off your phone and unplug from Pc (Hold volume up and power for around 10 seconds)
Start PC Companion and select Support zone then Update my phone/tablet then in Blue Repair my phone/tablet and follow the on screen instructions - When prompted connect your phone still switched off holding volume down or back button - This should start the repair or reformat process
If you are using Windows 8/8.1 or a 64bit operating system then adjust the settings for PC Companion and run in compatibility mode and chose Windows 7 or XP
As i said, the phone's battery is completely down
so no way for the phone to even come on. When i connect to the wall it continously goes on and off.
The phone must be off as above for a repair to be achieved however if trying a repair your device still has no signs of working then I'm sorry to hear this but you would need to either return your device to the place of purchase or contact Xperia care and have your device inspected http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/support/contact-us/
