Hi there
Bought an Xperia Z about a month ago. Had slight lag issues but nothing too serious.
My phone ran down and the battery died two days ago. I put it on the charge (its been on the charge pretty much ever since) with the red LED lit up. LED turns off completely when unplugged.
Phone will not turn on at all; have tried all of the manual resets (holding power button and volume button etc); have read these forums and searched the web for a solution to no avail. PC doesn't recognise the phone so can't reset it via PC Companion. Basically, I have an $800 unresponsive brick.
Very very disappointed to say the least. Phone was very well looked after, and to have it die simply because the battery ran down is extremely worrying. I've seen that this issue is very common yet there doesn't seem to be any definitive fix for it whatsoever.
Any help that anyone can give me would be really appreciated
. Phone must have a simcard inside. Than connect phone to homecharger and holddown de off butten located next to de simcard. Your phone will vibrate so keep hoding down voor 10 sec and let go dan the screen will com up. If first you dont succeed trytry again. Sorry for my english
1.) charge your device for 1-2 hours using the wallmount charger
2.) connect your device to your pc and run xperia companion
3.) perform a software repair
Well that was very strange. My phone had completely discharged to 1%. I tried charging it but instead of the usual green blocks moving up in the battery, it had a single red block inside the battery icon with a X next to it. I put it in 3 different sockets and blowing dust away from the connectors on the charger, but it still wouldn't charge. I then logged onto my computer to see if google could help. I bought in my phone and tried charging it again , and nothing. I tried connecting it to my computer but it didn't recognise it. Someone said to try holding down the on/off button and the Volume Down button and now it works in the socket that I just tried!
Must have been a funny 10 minutes

I ahve been using my Sony Xperia Z for more that a Year or more and suddenly two days back it stopped after I left it at zero percent battery one night. and then on it was not turning on, no matter how long I was having my phone on charge. I saw many blogs and posts for suggestions.
But none worked and finally I thpought to try out the docking station port for charging. But I didnt have a dock station for my phone.
1. So I took an old USB cable I had and cut it open.
2. Took the red and back wire.
3. Connected the red(+) to the upper point and black(-) to the lower charge point just with an insulation tape.
4. After 5-10 mins boom, sony logo came on and the device was back on.
5. Then after 2% conencted my normal charger.
6. All works fine then on.
For me hard reset, hard reboot , boot loader mode nothing worked. But this one did. Cheers!!!
THANK YOU
I cant believe this actually worked haha! Started cgarging straight away and seems fully working.
No idea why it worked, I guess the phone gods work in mysterious ways.
Hi
My Sony Xperia z3+ has the same issue, it will not charge I have tried holding the power/volume button etc. it's not the first time this has happened either.. I like the xperia however this battery issue will stop me ever buying a Sony phone again.
Anyway regards fixing it.. swapping some wires over, could you give me a littlebit more information on this, do you just change one end of the usb cable? (the end that plugs into the phone??)
Im rather desperate and really want it fixed..
Regards
Also, adding to the above comment, I installed a major system update right before this issue started which made the phone run really slow and everything had changed annoyingly... however i do not know if this has any impact on the phone being able to charge??
Regards
Cheers bud, was at my wit's end, your idea done the job.cheers man.
i have the same exact problem... please leave a message if you find a solution.... *personal info removed*
Okay...I have no clue how that even happened, but I will try to explain my situation and how I fixed it,so...my phone was charging via portable battery ,had about 45% battery when I last checked, then after I left it for like 5-10 mins and decided to pick up my phone again,it was just dead, even my protable battery was refusing to boot up,and it was strange since the portable battery had over 75% battery in it,and has twice the capacity of my phone(the original very first Xperia Z) ,yet it showed no signs of life, didn't want to even turn itself for a sec to display how much battery there is in it,neither did the phone, just the red light, trying to power button + volume up,did NOTHING,then like after 7-8 hours, for some reason,my phone was completely out cold, after it refused to boot via PC,then I got back home, plugged my portable battery in the wall outlet and phone in my personal PC which has the companion thingy,it did nothing, but my portable battery then suddenly came to life,I decided to try the same with the phone after 1 hour of reading stuff online, trying to figure a way to bring it to life, after charging it then via wall outlet for 10-15 mins,I just unplugged it,the red light disappeared, then I held down do power button and my phone just vibrated an turned on,it had like 2% battery...while it had over 50% like 8-9 hours ago and just a red light flashing...really weird idk what caused that or what fixed it,I just know that probably the wall outlet led it back to life, lmao
