Z1 memory problem

My internal memory registers as 64GB - the same as my SD card.  I'd like to reset the phone to show true internal memory. I've removed the SD card and rebooted the phone but no change; it still shows 64.  Any ideas.

I tried the software repair and no luck.  So I backed up everything and did a factory reset.  When I did the "restore backup", the phone had the same problem.

It doesn't seem to affect the operation although I don't see how internal memory could rgister 64GB which is the same size as the SD card.

Aah well...the mysteries of technology.

Thanks for the advice.  I guess I'll just leave it - factory resets are not to be taken lightly since the phone is not like it was before backup.

Cheers

Hi @Yozik, sorry to hear about this.

You can either perform a factory reset directly from the menu within the device, or you can with the help of a computer, perform a software repair using Xperia Companion.

I would recommend the software repair if you have easy access to a computer as this program also offers the option to backup your data.

Let me know if the internal storage shows the correct size after resetting the device! Slightly_smiling_Face

Hi again @Yozik,

I'm a bit unsure, did the software repair complete and there was no change, or were you not able to complete it? If it is the same after a software repair/factory reset, there is something very strange going on with the hardware in the device.

In your case the device works fine, it "just" displays the wrong available storage so the device is still working, but it's of course an annoyance, but probably not worth spending money on having it repaired since it's an older device.

Regarding the factory reset, I agree with you. Not everything will be set up perfectly and some applications don't have a backup option and you have to log in to them again, change the settings around and so forth.

Take care!
