Unsolicited alarm notification after 55.0.A.2.314 update

Since the latest update, I've had an alarm notification pop up on the notification bar that I can't get rid of. Has anyone else encountered this?

@maxsteele, clearing only the cache might not be enough, have tried clearing the Clock app data?

Right, that's not since the latest update, it's a repeating alarm.

One of your apps is set with it on, so you're going to have to go through your apps, one by one, and find which one has the repeating alarm set, and switch it off via whatever app causes it.

As it gets close to the time it's due to go off, you might get a notification saying upcoming alarm set, and you can click on it and get taken to the app, but best bet is to start going through the apps, and find which one you set it on, which you have done, or you have left a setting set/unset, and the app just continues on its way.

I've tried that as well... no change.

I thought that might be a possibility but when the time comes, no alarm actually sounds.

Right, well it's one of your apps, that has a repeating alarm, or alarm section enabled..
Things like VPN software, or Tasker, have that ability, so you will have to go through each app, and check their settings..it could be a ticked on unticked checkbox, an oversight on your part, but it is one of your apps you have installed.

I don't know about that. I haven't installed any new programs or changed any settings. I generally don't use the phone for alarms. If the alarms were actually going off i'd think it was another app's settings to but there is no actual alarm. In fact, when the posted time comes, the notification time simply changes.

Ok, maybe an alarm was the wrong phrase, but it's one of your apps, a setting/task from before the update..

Check your apps, and their settings, you'll find it there.

For example, if it was Tasker, it would be Reliable Alarms in its settings, it's designed so Android doesn't kill the app, so it uses the alarm to keep it from getting killed..

So if you won't or can't check your apps for a setting similar, then uninstall and reinstall them one at a time, unless you want it to stay there forever, your choice.Expressionless_Face

Have you tried booting your phone in safe mode to see if the alarm notification is still there?

If the alarm notification is not there in safe mode it means a 3rd party app is causing this.

Instructions are here on how to boot into safe mode.

I did reboot in safe mode and did lose the notification. Just a matter of narrowing down which app. Thanks for the help.

Hi Maxsteele

I have the exact same issue.

Perhaps we should compare apps? The task of going through each individual app is going to be very time consuming, but if we elimated some?

Since you are in Canada and I in the UK, there must be many that we do not share!
