How to turn OFF internet in Xperia S?

Simple question - how do I switch the internet off, so I can switch it on again when I need to use it? I can see easily how to switch off the Wi-Fi, but in 'Mobile Network Settings' I have:

- Data enabled (I assume I uncheck this box?)

- Data Roaming - this is off.

- Network mode - the only options are WCDMA preferred/GSM, or GSM only or WCDMA only. What do I put here?

- Access Point names ?

- Network operators - am I supposed to select my network here, or will this cause the internet to connect?

Not sure why this is so complicated - I just want a button to switch ON & OFF so I use the internet only when I need it.

(There is probably a post on this somewhere, but because of the absence of any search box within this part of the forum I have no idea of knowing this or being able to search for it!).

If it helps theres 2 ways

1 using the Toolbox widget press the top right lit icon to turn off and press again to turn back on

2 Settings Wireless and Networks down the bottom Mobile networks untick Data Enabled

For Wifi you are right!

If you want to switch off your Edge/mobile data (3g/2g).. You have just one check box for that as well.. "Data Enabled" - If this is unchecked, then you not gonna have internet connection (3g/2g).. If you are using 2g with some operators you gotta set the settings manually, thatsy you got other options like APN, etc..

You're right, to turn off internet, go into Mobile Network and uncheck Data Enabled.  This stops data usage, I use it quite often

Thanks all; I think I've got it now....

One more question - does anyone know why my Facebook poage won't display properly? It doesn't show anything that's on the page; I even downloaded the 'app' but it doesn't make any difference.
