@Buzz4169 starring a message was a feature of Sony's own SMS app. Since couple years, Xperia phones now use SMS app provided by Google (called Android Messages) which doesn't have that feature.
With regard to deleting a conversation, go to Messages' main view, long press on the conversation you want to delete, and then tap the wastebin icon in the top right corner.
