Xperia XZ headphone jack malfunction

Hi all,

I've been using my Xperia XZ for about 2 months now and I've been having very annoying problems with the headphone jack.

I tend to listen to music with my phone in my pocket but the slightest pressure on the headphone plug seems to make the phone detect the headphones to be removed. I have tried a straight plug, an L shaped plug and different sets of headphones and the results are all the same. My music never continue for more than a few steps if I walk around with my phone in my pocket.

Secondly, I use headphones that do not have an in-line mic and controls but the phone keeps thinking that I have pressed controls on an in-line mic and activates voice search functions which is also highly annoying.

Just wanted to see if these are common problems with the XZ? If not I might bring it in for servicing

I just somehow found the way to solve XZ + Bose problem!!

I experienced the problem of headphone automatically disconnect after a second. What I found is that even if the headphone disconnect (you can see that the headphone icon disappear from the top of the screen) but if you press the middle button on the volume adjustment bar on the headphone line, the phone will suddenly show the headphone icon.

Actually the headphone icon has 2 forms. One form is a headphone with line and another one without line.

Following is the step getting the headphone works.

1. keep a headphone jack plugged and let the headphone icon disappear.

2. play a music and you will hear it through the phone speaker

3. prees a middle button on the volume control of your Bose. Suddenly, music will switch to your headphone. And it will show a headphone icon with line

4. Shortly after you hear the music, LONG press the button again until the icon change to headphone without line.

After all the steps the headphone will work properly but you will need to do this steps everytime you plug in the headphone.

Congratulations!!

Unfortunately, for me it didn´t work. I have a pair of Bowes & Wilkins C5`s which doesn´t work. At the moment I can´t even get the headphone sign on the display...

I've been dealing with this issue since I bought this phone when it was released. I'm a bit annoyed that Sony has not found a way yet to deal with this (what appears to be) a software issue. A 700 EURO phone and it doesn't work properly with my B&W P5 and B&W C2 series 2. The funny thing is that on my old Z3C (both of them) and on my brother in laws Z5C they work great. Never had an issue with them.

I've created a thread in this forum long time ago and also made some systemdumps from my phone to supply these guys with to check what is going on.. Still no solution.

The best way to deal with this based on my own experience is to download the app SoundAbout which forces the sound through the headphone jack: this works ok. It's annoying because you have to deal with this using a seperate app, however, this confirms that it must be a sofware issue with the XZ....

Same experience here. I´m quite annoyed about this problem with the XZ.

But, I cannot get my C5´s to work through the SoundAbout app either.. Do I have to buy the Pro version in order for it to work? I have all settings on for wired headsets btw

As it is now, with my phone, the headset symbol does not show up at all on my display. Not even with Sonys headset...which of course works.

It should work on the non-pro (demo) version. And yes I also have the settings at wired headset. After it worked for me on the demo I bought the pro version. That's the only reason I still have my XZ Slightly_smiling_Face

Hi.

I cannot get my phones to work via SoundAbout still.

Bowers& Wilks says it can be due to different mini jack pins.

I´m going to try and find some adapter, hopefully that will solve this issue..

Thx.

Same issue as in this now closed thread

/t5/Xperia-XZ/Headphone-Jack-detection-lost-after-a-while/td-p/1167553

Using Sennheiser Momentum and have to use SoundAbout to have eg. Spotify to keep playing as my Xperia XZs looses the connection to the headphones after a few seconds.

Using a standard iPhone headset with mic attached doesnt have any issues.

So as the Sennheiser headphones works correctly when using SoundAbout app forcing the sound to the headphone output it must be a software issue.

Same problem here. Im using Beats Tour 2 and it only works when i press and hold the button on headphones, as soon i release the button the sound dissappear.  What is going on Sony? No fix yet?
