Soft Skin effect

This won't turn off. Tried front and back cameras. Tried disabling enabling all settings. Tried force stop camera app in Apps list, clearing data, restart.
Even installed Google's camera app and these photos get processed too!

Extremely frustrated and now thinking of refund

It's incredible how Sony makes sensors for almost every maker out there, and yet those other phones cameras blow the Z3 out of water.

Every time some friends of mine send me their pictures taken with Iphones, Galaxy, L4 and the like, I want to weep and start crying. I hope someone fixes this, if not Sony maybe some Custom Rom maker, but I'm afraid this blurry thing is put deep inside the firmware.

BTW, rear camera photos are also ugly. Over compressed, blurry & horrendous lack of detail.

Same for Z2 on 5.1.1 Active or no active.. soft skin applyies to all photos rear cam exclueded. All front pictures no matter distance come out blurry without nice and sharp outlines. No dirt on lens, and yes.. I know it's only 2.0 MPix, but used to have better color reproduction and sharpness on old 2.0 MPix sony ericsson on main camera than Z2 on front.

As far as I know this bug effects a wide range of Sony Xperia devices (even the newest flagship Z5) and I'm surprised that only a few people take notice of it.

However, it wont take long before an article will be written regarding this issue and Sonys sales will plummet, maybe then will they care...

Since the 2009 I didn't buy or use other mobile phone brand and the camera was the matter to keep me among sony customers but after I changed and tried many models in only 2 months [Z3 - C3 - T2 ULTRA - M2] I decided to end my story with xperia... I believe is time to try the Samsung Galaxy...

I hope Sony realises that for every person in this thread, there are tons of people that don't give feedback on this issue, but simply stops buying their phones.

And that every one of those that stops buying their phones because of this issue will stop their friends and family from buying them too. Having to take your photos in snapchat to get rid of this bug is ridiculous.

Hello,
the camera of my device has a problem. It really is not a problem only mine but we are many.
By crossing lollipop it is no longer possible to disable the effect "soft skin".
It follows that all the photos are altered by this bug.
The problem occurs with both the front camera with which the main one.
Both in automatic and manual.
I tried using another camera app ( Google camera specifically) but the problem persists.
I have already recommended a restore using PC Companion, but are reluctant to do so because another person with the same problem has still not solved.
Real solutions???

Hi any news, i face the same issue.  The picture quality is bad, i mean my old Galaxy S2 still makes better pictures. I know that it is not a Iphone but wow the camera .  It should not be that slow and that bad.

Please fix this,

I signed up for a forum account just to reply to this.

This problem still resides in Sony's Concept Initiative for the Android 6 version of the Z3 Compact. Even after raising it as an issue on the Google+ community for the concept, it was completely ignored by the development team. They've revealed a new version of the camera app and the issue still persists on that despite me raising the issue months ago. The only response I got was from another concept user amusingly saying "it's not a bug, it's a feature."

At the very least, there should be an option to turn it off, or reduce the processing to an extent where it doesn't cause a smooth skin effect.

I fear that we may never see this issue fixed.
