Hi there
Bought an Xperia Z about a month ago. Had slight lag issues but nothing too serious.
My phone ran down and the battery died two days ago. I put it on the charge (its been on the charge pretty much ever since) with the red LED lit up. LED turns off completely when unplugged.
Phone will not turn on at all; have tried all of the manual resets (holding power button and volume button etc); have read these forums and searched the web for a solution to no avail. PC doesn't recognise the phone so can't reset it via PC Companion. Basically, I have an $800 unresponsive brick.
Very very disappointed to say the least. Phone was very well looked after, and to have it die simply because the battery ran down is extremely worrying. I've seen that this issue is very common yet there doesn't seem to be any definitive fix for it whatsoever.
Any help that anyone can give me would be really appreciated
I am having the exact same problem with mine. (Beware, I'm about to lose my **bleep**)
It died this morning around 3am and I plugged it into a charger, as one does, the red light came on and popped up with a picture of a battery..so I left it to charge.. Only to wake up 4hrs later and see the freakin' thing is still OFF! I then connected it to the magnetic charger hoping that that would do the trick, but no, as I tried to disconnect the charger the whole magnetic charging point came out??? Then into a Sony charger, and still, nothing. Not to mention the fact that this phone is "waterproof", have you tried typing with wet fingers? Or when the phone is wet? It selects EVERYTHING! Why make a phone waterproof if you can't use it when it's wet?
Well done on selling us fake dreams Sony. I am absolutely disgusted by my experience with this pricey paper weight. Never again will I purchase a Sony, back to Samsung it is! But unfortunately I have to wait over a year for my next upgrade!
Can anyone please give me some advice on what else I could possibly do? If not, please say a silent prayer for this pathetic excuse for a cellphone because I am now officially on the verge of destroying it!
Thanks,
Mixi
I encountered this problem yesterday. I drained the battery of my phone until the red LED light wore off and then charge again. Turn on phone, saw Sony logo.
Hope this helps. (in my case, it did.)
I have xperia Z1 and faced same, my phone unexpectedly powered off and unable to power on and when I put it on charge through its USB port the red flashes and nothing happing, I also tried by pressing power and volume up keys but no luck.
I also have its magnetic charging cable (purchased separately), I tried to charge it through its docking port and it powered on normally and now everything is working fine. Please try it hopefully it will resolve your problem as well.
thank you jad1990..its work out..thank you
i'm haveing exactly the same problem as you. phone wont charge. just shows the batery image one in a while
Thank you, followed your advice and it works.
Same problem here. Battery went from 50-60% of charge (sometimes from 80, 90 or 100%) to 0% randomly. Contacted Sony assistance France by chat yesterday and told them about battery drain problem The operator forwarded me the procedure to reset phone with PC Companion. I did it and now the result is that my telephone is DEAD. The battery doesn't charge anymore and no chance to go on with the reset procedure. As mentioned in previous posts all this is happening after 18 months from the date of purchase. Not sure what to do now but don't really think I will again purchase a Sony device.
Well I have the same issue. But i managed to contain it by, once the phone gets to about 90% or so I restart the phone and it shows the correct battery %. My phone, sometimnes doesnt charge and I just leave it alone for a few minutes and then plug it back in and it startsup normally. I never used pc companion except for an update. So... I had my phone for about 2 years by now and only now started experiencing these issues...
Sorry krionell but I think your solution of restarting the phone once the battery gets to 90% is a bit frustrating, isn'it!!! I would spend all day restarting my phone...
PS After following the procedure suggested by Sony assistance with the bad result of having my phone dead for a day, I insisted and managed to make my phone "resuscitate" and work again..I managed to do this by using again PC Companion. I reinstalled the software and all the apps. The phone worked well for a couple of days but then again the battery problem came out. I don't think changing the battery is a solution (given the various posts and feedbacks on this forum). Since Sony is not going to provide any more Android updates for the Z1 Compact I guess the only solution is to get rid of it (I think it was a very good telephone). Think I'll definitely go for an Iphone.
I am highly disappointed with Sony and their products. This is the second phone I have purchased. The only reason it's the second is because while on vacation this was the only phone the guy at the Kiask had available at a reasonable cost within my contract. My first Sony quit working within one year and would not cover another phone even though it was in excellent condition, manufactures default, rudiculous. I have had this phone for just over a year and now it has suddenly quit working, similar issue. The battery has slowly quit working, went through various phone charges these past few weeks. I turned it off/on, and now it will not turn back on. Sony, you should recall your products are quit selling faulty products. "Shame on you"!
