If someone is replying to a text message by text the phone no longer gives audible notification.
Hi @FredSnooks, sorry to hear about this.
I'm not sure I quite understand your question, so I'm sorry if I give you the wrong troubleshooting instructions.
Do I understand correctly that when you are receiving a text message, there is no sound notification in your phone? If that is correct, please check so the Messaging application isn't blocked from sending notifications.
You can check that in Settings > Apps > Messaging > Notifications, Make sure that "Block all" is not enabled, if it is, disable it and ask one of your contacts to send you a new text message and see if you can hear the notification.
I'd also recommend that you check the settings for the Messaging application and see if there is a ring tone set for sound. Start with opening up the Messaging application > 3 dots in the top right corner > Settings > Notification sound. If this is set to "None", choose a tone that you are happy with.
Let me know if that helps!
the "sound" notification was there but is gone.
Hi @MichaelStone, sorry to hear that.
Do I understand correctly that there is no notification when you receive a text message on your Xperia XZ2 Compact?
If that is correct, go to Settings > Apps & notifications > See all xx apps > Messages > Notifications > tap on "Other notifications" and make sure that the behaviour is set to "Make sound and pop up on screen".
Let me know if that helps!
jonas
it works but not on bluetooth. On bluetooth I get the same notification as i get when an email is sent.
Suggestions?
Otherwise, a big thanks.
Hi again!
Oh, I see. I misunderstood your question completely and I thought you didn't get a notification at all when you received a text message, but it seems to be that the tone that is played when you have a Bluetooth headset connected is not the same as you have set in the device, is that correct?
The notification tone that you use, is it a personal one or is one of the default notifications tones? If you are using a personal one, try switching to a default one and see if that helps. You can also try with a different Bluetooth headset/speaker and see if that is any different.
There is no setting in the device to change this by the way, it should play the one you have set by default.
Keep me posted!
