So my lovely Z5 suddenly decided today not to charge.
If i plugged it into pc it would make a ping noise but not charge. If I plugged it into socket it would not charge.
It has now run out of charge and if ipress the power button shows the red empty battory thing on the screen but it wont charge.
i read some places about holding down power and volume up and the same time .. if i do this after about 5s it makes 3 vibration noises in quick successsion but does nothing else!
any help or ideas much appreciated!!
thanks tom
Yet there is many people with same problem and all the "solutions" ate not working. Even taking it to repairs doesn't always fix the problem and mostly started after an update... The fact that you get only generic answers and "use the original charger" they doesn't work And plugging /unplugging broke a new charger (I had to buy since original broke) after an hour.... Yeah I'd say that's not normal. Z3 seems fine but z5 is the main problem source.
So i had the same problem. Try to put the chager to you computer and the push the OB/OFF and the volume but
Same problem on Xperia Z5 Premium.
The phone detects the power supply plug in, but won't charge.
Tried different chargers (all orginial Sony), restarting the phone, rebooting with power + volume up buttons, pluging to a computer... Nothing works.
@Sony, please support!
It is unacceptable that SONY leaves such an issue without an adequate solution!
After more that 10 year loyalty with the brand and some 20 devices purchased I am definitely not buyng any new SONY.
The quality decreased severely in last years, and as we can see no support is provided!
What a pity!
On a different forum, somebody advised cleaning the charging port with a needle.
I just used a piece of kitchen cloth and cleaned the port.
It works now.
Just myself passing advise on.
You should only use the original Sony charger for your phone. The charger amperage and voltage are not the only factors of it. The wave shape and the stability plus the the internal resistance of the charger also matters. A charger may have a nominal maximum amperage of 1 A but may not be able to provide it in a circle with a resistance out of the designated range .
Using non Sony charger will also weaken the phone's battery. So if you try to charge it later with a Sony charger it may not recharge or perform well.
I had a similar problem, on inspection of the charging port there was abit of dust in the port stopping the plug from sitting properly, took a fine needle and cleaned it carefully without damaging the pins now charging fine
What adapter can I try to use? I am having the same issue with my sony. It will register the charger but won't charge. A sony charger worked for a while but now it doesn't. What wattage adapter have you tried and had it charging on?
it woked great for me, thanks bro, but i think is kind of stupid that sony make this kind of things, if the hardware is well, the phone must charge everytime, i love my z5 but im getting another companys phone next time.
